1. दिल्ली की कुछ कालोनियों में वृक्षारोपण और इसकी सुरक्षा: छोटे बच्चों, युवाओं, फ्रीडम फाइटर एनक्लेव, नेब सराय के निवासियों के साथ, हमने में कॉलोनी में लगभग 3000 पेड़ लगाए।
2. हमने भविष्य में अपने बच्चों के लिए अधिक स्वस्थ जीवन सुनिश्चित करने के लिए लगाए गए पेड़ों की रक्षा के बारे में निवासियों को जागरूक किया।
3. हमने आस-पास के स्कूलों में पेंटिंग और ड्राइंग प्रतियोगिताओं का आयोजन किया ताकि बच्चों को हमारे जीवन में पेड़ों के मूल्य के बारे में जागरूक किया जा सके और लगाए गए पेड़ों की देखभाल के साथ-साथ उनकी रक्षा भी की जा सके।
4. दिल्ली रिज वन सफाई शिविर: जंगल से पॉलिथीन बैग आदि हटाने और जंगल को बचाने के उद्देश्य से हमने कॉलोनी के बच्चों और बड़ों के साथ दिल्ली रिज वन सफाई शिविरों का आयोजन किया।
5. प्रोजेक्ट उड़ान: हम पिछले कई वर्षों से प्रोजेक्ट उड़ान को लागू कर रहे हैं, जिसका उद्देश्य गरीब श्रमिकों के बच्चों को पढ़ना और सॉफ्ट स्किल के साथ सशक्त बनाना है।
यह श्रमिक जो बिहार, यूपी, पश्चिम बंगाल, उड़ीसा आदि से दिल्ली जैसे मेट्रो शहरों में एक अच्छे जीवन की तलाश में आते हैं, अधिकतर बहुत ग़रीबी में झुग्गीयों में रहते हैं। उनके बच्चे सरकारी स्कूल जाते हैं, जहां शिक्षा का स्तर थोड़ा कमजोर होता है। इसलिए उनका ज्ञान स्तर भी बहुत खराब होता है। उनकी पारिवारिक स्थितियों और उनके आसपास के सामाजिक स्थितियों के कारण, उनके व्यवहार , तौर तरीक़ों और सोच में भी बड़े पैमाने पर सुधार की आवश्यकता है ताकि वे बेहतर इंसान और देश के जिम्मेदार नागरिक बन सकें।
इसलिए हमने प्रोजेक्ट उड़ान की शुरुआत की जिसमें हमने समाज के इन वंचित बच्चों के लिए ज्ञान वर्धन केंद्र की स्थापना की। ये बच्चे रोजाना दोपहर 3 बजे के करीब स्कूल खत्म करने के बाद हमारे केंद्र पर आते थे। इस केंद्र के शिक्षक कक्षा चौथी से बारहवीं कक्षा तक के बच्चों के स्कूली विषयों के ज्ञान में सुधार का प्रयास करते थे । उन्होंने उन्हें दूसरों के प्रति बेहतर व्यवहार के लिए प्रशिक्षित भी किया, यानी उनके माता-पिता और परिवार के सदस्य, दोस्त और सहकर्मी समूह, पड़ोसी आदि।
मोहल्ले के करीब 70-80 गरीब बच्चे प्रतिदिन केंद्र पर आते थे। यह देखना आश्चर्यजनक था कि एक महीने के भीतर ही बच्चों के ज्ञान स्तर और व्यवहार में बेहतरी के लिए बदलाव आना शुरू हो गया। उनके दिलो-दिमाग में महत्त्वाकांक्षा के बीज अंकुरित होने लगे। उनके माता-पिता ने केंद्र पर आना शुरू कर दिया और अपने बच्चों में सकारात्मक बदलाव के बारे में खुशी जाहिर की।
बहुत सारे मज़दूर माता पिता हमारे केंद्र में अपने बच्चों को भी भर्ती करने के लिएबार बार आते थे , लेकिन संसाधन की कमी के कारण (चूंकि हमने किसी भी निकाय से कोई फंडिंग या दान नहीं लिया था और सभी गतिविधियों को हमारे ट्रस्टियों द्वारा ही फंडिंग किया गया था) हम इस केंद्र का विस्तार नहीं कर सके।
1. Tree plantation and its protection in various housing communities of Delhi : With small children, youth, women residents of Freedom Fighters Enclave Neb Sarai, we planted nearly 3000 trees in the colony in 2006-07.
2. We educated the residents in general about protecting the planted trees to ensure a more healthy life for their children in future.
3. We organised Painting and Drawing Competitions in nearby schools so as to sensitise children about value of trees in our life and to nurture as well as protect the planted trees.
4. We organised Delhi Ridge forest Cleaning Camps with children as well as grown ups of the Colony aiming at removing Polythene bags etc from the forest and stop the forest’s degradation.
5. Project Udaan : We have been implementing the Project Udaan since last so many years aiming at Empowering the children of the Poor Migrant Labour, with knowledge Upgradation and Soft Skills.
The migrant labour who come from Bihar, U.P., West Bengal, Orissa etc to metro cities like Delhi in search of a decent livelihood, stay in highly slum like conditions. Their children go to the Govt. Schools where the teaching standards leave much to be desired. Hence their knowledge levels are also very poor. Because of their family conditions and social milieu aound them, their behaviour pattern, value system is also needed to be reformed drastically so that they grow into better human beings and responsible citizens of the country.
Hence we started the PROJECT UDAAN in which we established a Knowledge Upgradation Centre for these deprived children of the society. These children used to come to our centre around 3.00 pm everyday after finishing their schools. The teachers in the Center upgraded their knowledge of school subjects from class fourth to class twelfth. They also trained them for better behaviour towards others, i.e. their parents and family members, friends and peer groups, neighbours etc.
Nearly 70-80 poor children from the neighbourhood used to come to the Center daily. It was amazing to find that within a month the children’s knowledge level and behaviour patterns started changing for the better. The seeds of ambition started sprouting in their hearts and minds. Their parents started visiting the Center and expressed happiness about the positive changes in their children.
There was a growing huge demand from lots of poor migrants to admit their children also in our Center. But due to resource constraint ( as we didn’t take any funding or donations from any body and all the activities were funded by our trustees only ) we couldn’t expand the operations.
1. Taking children to visit post office, metro station, police station.
2. Taking children for metro rides.
3. Taking children to visit and run cleanliness drives at imp tourist sites, monuments in Delhi, e.g. India Gate, Lodi garden etc;
4. Celebrating birthdays of these children once every month in groups.
5. Organising Diwali celebration, Saraswati Puja celebration, Christmas etc.
6. Organising Drawing, Painting, Debate, Essay writing competitions etc.
Future of Project Udaan : Encouraged by its successful impact, we would not only like to continue, but also expand Project Udaan manifolds depending on availability of resources.
