Parameters for Evaluation

IIT Delhi assessed Project Udaan 2.0 on the following parameters:

1. Program Reach and Accessibility: Geographic coverage, inclusivity & equity(gender, socioeconomic representation), enrolment & participation.

2. Student Engagement and Satisfaction: LMS usage, feedback on course content.

3. Academic Support Quality: Mentor-mentee relationships, responsiveness, and LMS performance.

4. Academic Performance & Career Readiness: Improvements in learning outcomes and skill development.

5. Social and Financial Impact: Cost savings for beneficiaries and ROI analysis.

 

Evaluation Methodology

- Mixed-method approach: Surveys, telephonic interviews, video calls, and field visits.

- Sample Size: 466 students, 22 mentors, and 54 Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs).

 

Performance on Key Evaluation Parameters:

1. Program Reach:

- Spread across 20+ states, ensuring inclusivity.

- Gender Ratio: 53.9% male, 46.1% female, promoting gender equity.

- Flexible, low-cost courses benefited female students in rural areas.

- Student input: “This program is girls like me who can study safely from home without restrictions.”- Poonam, Jammu & Kashmir.

 

2. Student Engagement:

- 54% access LMS daily

- Nearly 80% of the students, showing consistent engagement with the platform.

- Positive feedback: 75.8% students received timely LMS feedback.

 

3. Satisfaction with Course Content:

- 42.3% rated content as “Excellent”.

- 41.6% students gave the highest ratings (10/10) for exam preparation support.

- Student Input: “The study material is so clear and helpful; anyone serious can pass exams easily.” - Shimpu, Bihar.

 

4. Academic Support Quality:

- 90.9% of mentors confirmed academic improvements.

- 45.5% mentors reported significant performance improvements.

- Student Input: “Mentors regularly call and help us solve our issues. I feel supported. - Samrin, Bihar.
 

5. Social and Financial Impact:

- Social ROI for Students: 1,446% (For every ₹1 spent, students gained ₹14.46 in value).

- Social ROI for Udaan 2.0: 77.41% return on investment, proving cost efficiency.

- Student Input: “Without this program, I couldn’t dream of preparing for NEET. It’s affordable and life changing.” - Ajit, Jammu & Kashmir.
 

Conclusion

- Udaan 2.0 effectively addresses educational gaps, improves academic outcomes, and equips underprivileged youth with career-readiness skills.
- High ROI reflects financial efficiency and immense social impact.
- Engagement and inclusivity goals were met despite challenges like resource access and infrastructure limitations.
